Event Series[]

Weapon skins only sold for a limited time in events or available through event rewards.

Metallic Series[]

New form of weapon skins that came to the game late 2024, releasing publicly in v511 (Dec 19, 2024). It is believed that Bronze, Silver, and Gold weapon skins will be developed in this style when medal skins are released as a reward for kill count accomplishments.

Weapon Skins Info[]

Weapon skins are a cosmetic item that wrap around various weapons in the game. They were added to the game on May 13, 2021. Other than a free skin for the AR Rifle, weapon skins became unavailable some time in 2022 after the developer Rocky Balboa began his indefinite hiatus. They would not make a return for a little over two years, returning with the Halloween event in October 2024.

The only way to obtain weapon skins is to buy them in the shop. Once purchased, players may equip the weapon skins from the weapon loadout menu. One set was previously earned through a ZDC event (Halloween 2021).

Weapon skins are individually owned per weapon. Owning a weapon skin for one weapon does not guarantee it is available on other weapons. Most weapon skins are currently sold in complete sets so players will normally have access to their purchased skin on all available weapons unless they purchase a special limited-edition event skin.

Weapon skins serve as a purely cosmetic item and do not influence the stats of a weapon. Of all weapons, the Knife has the most available skins. Weapon skins do not change the model of weapons; only the color and shading of the weapon is changed.

Old weapon skins from 2021 were sold separately instead of in complete sets. In addition to the 15 base weapons currently available in the sold weapon sets, the VEK SMG also had skins.

History[]

Weapon skins were a feature with high demand from as far back as 2018. Since 2019, the Developers of the game stated that it was an active project that would continue to be pushed aside for other updates. It wouldn't be until March 21, 2021, where developer JoJa15 would demonstrate several images of camouflage textures applied on different guns. Three days later, on March 24, 2021, Developer Rocky Balboa showcased a video of a rotating AR Rifle with two different textures followed by several images of different textures on the AR Rifle.

Test Phase[]

March 24, 2021, following the recent news and showcases from developers, Rocky Balboa released a test renderer through https://stats.warbrokers.io/media/weaponSkins (link no longer active). This would allow users to properly view all previously shown skins as well as some others. This helped showed off what weapon skins could be like with a series of textures only available to preview on the AR Rifle. Users were additionally able to upload an image of their choosing to see their own custom ones too. Rocky Balboa stated that some of the skins would come to the game; however some would not. One main reason was that some images came from online sources with active copyright and so could not legally be distributed in the game. Some were more of a joke than serious, such as one that used the Hazmat Suit.

Included in the list of examples were skins resembling bronze, silver, and gold. Rocky Balboa confirmed that down the line the plan was to award players weapon skins that corresponded to their medal on the stats page.

Release[]

May 13, 2021[]

After one day of delay due to one developer having an internet outage—weapon skins were officially released. The first skins to release were a free desert AR skin, and a jungle camo skin for every weapon at the time (excluding Grenades, Grenade Launcher, Revolver, and Knife) for 40 coins each. The next day, a pink crystal and aurora skin was added for the SCAR and Knife; marking the first Knife skins in the game.

Feb 1, 2022[]

The VEK SMG would become the 16th weapon and first weapon outside of weapon skin's initial release to now feature the option of equipping skins. It started off with 9 available skins in the shop that day.

Oct 30, 2022[]

The game would get its first dynamic weapon skin.

Development[]

The creator series was a project allowing users to create for the game to have their own creations and to receive coin payments from those that purchase their cosmetics. With the absence of developer Rocky Balboa, the overseer of this project, this project has been shelved. Some of these skins in development (from both current creators and potential upcoming ones) include:

It was originally 1 before being brought down to 0 ; all players who bought it got their 1 refunded. It was only free for the AR Rifle and was available until October 2024. A second weapon was available only in May 2021 for 30 : the .50 Cal Sniper.

It has been the only weapon skin to be marked as the Rare rarity.

The bugged Knife was using the in-development Vector skin. The developer, Rocky Balboa, had been testing how the skin displayed and left it applied to the Lava Knife on release by accident.

Release Oct 2022

This skin is the first dynamic weapon skin in the game. It was added on October 30, 2022. It came for both the Knife and the Sniper Rifle, selling for 70 coins each and 500 coins at the Halloween 2024. The pumpkins and cobwebs both glow over a static black background (or orange handle). This would mark the second appearance of the Heroic rarity since the JoJa's Pizza Delivery Car, consequently cementing the rarity into circulation. There are actually two different weapons skins (wxxc040 and wxxc041); one for each weapon. This separation allows for specific details with cobwebs to be optimally spread across the weapons.

As this is two skins, smuggling will provide different results depending on the source for the skin.

Candy Corns[]

Cost Event Reward
Release Oct 2021

The Candy Corns set is a series of weapon skins obtained through the 2021 Halloween ZDC.

This weapon skin is unique as opposed to all other weapon skins. Rather than purchase it, players had to earn it through the challenges provided by the event. Players would first be required to collect all rewards prior before they would be able to earn this grand prize. It was earned by winning a round with all 7 antidotes in the player's inventory. The skin was only given for 10 out of the then 15 total weapons that supported skins. The Candy Corn set includes: AR Rifle, AK Rifle, SCAR, Hunting Rifle, Sniper Rifle, .50 Cal Sniper, Sub-Machine Gun, VSS, Shotgun, and Pistol.

Players who did not earn this grand prize for their 10 weapons are now unable to obtain it. It has not returned in following events, and is unclear if it will ever return. It is widely considered to be the rarest weapon skin set.

Trivia[]

  • This is the only weapon skin that has been bundled for multiple weapons at once (normally players would have to buy/earn each individual cosmetic)
  • This is the only weapon skin not obtained from purchases
  • The skin has only be obtainable once and through a series of challenges, making this possibly the rarest weapon skin
  • The skin can be viewed on other weapons via a skin smuggling bug
    • While some weapons appear to be salvageable, it is clear why some of them were not intended to release
    • The skin is older than some newer weapons that may work with the skin, like the VEK—which was the first weapon added to the list of weapons with skins since weapon skin launch—which didn't receive skin support until February 1, 2022

Metallic Series[]

Green Metal[]

Wxxc200

Green Metal menu icon

This previously unreleased weapon skin was first encountered by players in v505 and v506 when the Paint Swirl skin was bugged and showed this skin instead. The developers promised they would fix the bug and release the skin for people to own legitimately. Currently it has been released along with six other metallic skins.

Others[]

Reward skins that will be earned by getting enough kills with a given weapon. For example, 500 kills for the Bronze Medal skin on the Sniper Rifle, 5,000 kills for the Silver Medal skin, and 10,000 kills for the Gold Medal skin. These currently are unreleased and completely unobtainable.
