Tomb is a smaller map that was made by developer Joja15, that resembles an underground group of tunnels similar to Incan and Mayan ruins in real life. It was released on WarBrokers v240 on January 14, 2019, but was removed from the game around the middle of August 2021. This was due to frustration from the community regarding the major FPS loss when playing the map. Despite the map being later added back on June 9th 2022 (in turn, the Temple map was removed), it was later removed once again, and the Temple map was put back onto rotation.

Layout[]

This map has three main corridors. The center corridors between the spawns are a standard underground theme, but because light has streamed through the roof small trees have been allowed to grow. The 2nd primary chasm has larger wholes in the roof allowing for more water and sunlight. Trees scatter this tunnel and some water has filled carvings on the floor. The third large chasm is full of lava (that does damage) with tunnels and rocks scattered across it to allow for travel. These main tunnels are all connected by smaller tunnels of varying lengths.

Strategies[]

Tomb is typically a close to mid-range map, meaning that automatic weapons dominate. Grenades are useful in inflicting damage in close quarter combat, especially when cooked. They're also effective at clearing out tunnels that are more dense and tightly-packed, and can be thrown into elevated areas. This map allows players the ability to back track on their routes in order to sneak up on their opponents and outflank them by using the connected tunnels. Technically, there are ways to use parkour to get into the enemies spawn on both sides but spawn protection usually leads to failure in that regard.

Trivia[]

  • Tomb looks best when a special kind of lighting is enabled but that lighting typically raises the ping. This kind of lighting can still be found in the Secret Chamber in the Temple map.
  • Tomb uses a very similar source pack as Temple leaving fans to believe that Tomb is near the Temple map.
  • For some players, the high poly count (the amount of shapes that make up the physical map) which creates the extra detail in the map can make some players lag. This causes issues with the loading of the map and can cause lag in the form of frame rate loss (low fps) on some computers.
  • This map was removed and put back in after the Temple map was removed, but was later removed once again, putting Temple map back onto rotation.
