The Sub-Machine Gun, often abbreviated as the “SMG”, is a close to mid-range combat gun. It excels at close-range combat, requiring only 3 headshots to finish off enemies at point-blank range. The SMG can be found in all game modes.
Design[]
The SMG is a small, compact weapon with an ordinary greyish-black colour scheme. In Classic Mode, it uses the standard 25-round magazine and has no attachments other than a grip. It is modelled after the real-life Heckler & Koch (H&K) MP-5K Sub-Machine Gun, which in turn, is a more compact version of the MP5.
Performance[]
The SMG is well known for its high damage at close range. It has low recoil and a high rate of fire. The low recoil of the weapon may make it appealing to use at longer ranges, but the high damage drop off over larger distances makes it highly impractical. The damage is average, but the high rate of fire means that the SMG can quickly drain the health of an unwary player. Keep an eye on your ammo count; the small magazine and the high fire rate can quickly deplete all your rounds. It is advisable to perform tactical reloads whenever possible.
The SMG is capable of firing in semi-automatic, burst-fire, and full-automatic firing modes. It is a consistent and versatile choice.
It's usually recommended to use the SMG on close-range maps such as Area 15 Bunker and Office, though it can still be effective on larger maps with loadouts like SMG+Sniper.
