Siege came out on August 26, 2021. It is a small castle town/village with surrounding woodland. The theme is set in the medieval era.
A wall spans across the East and West sides of the map, with mountains taking up the North and South sides. Teams spawn on either wall. A river winds through the center of the map, connecting the two walls. The East side bears a blue banner with a white lion, while the West side bears a with gold embroidery. Each wall has four towers—of which only the inner two are accessible. The walls are adorned with wooden spikes that damage players that try to climb.
On either side of the river are a number of buildings. Some of them are labelled with signs to mark a profession; blacksmith, fisherman, etc. A windmill sits on the Southern bank in the middle of the map. Surrounding the buildings is a dense population of trees that run up to the edge of the mountains. This woodland provides a lot of cover in-between the two spawns.
Strategies[]
Siege is a small, yet lengthy map. A Sniper Rifle is well-suited to the terrain. However, Hunting Rifles, .50 Cal Sniper, Auto Snipers, and Revolvers can still be used as substitutes. Medium-range weaponry such as an assault rifle or LMGs are what players will want to carry. Though close-range weapons are viable, they require players to be engaged in tighter combat such as in the dense woodland or in between buildings along one side. A mix between the two ranges will give players the most flexibility.
Due to snipers that may stand atop the walls/towers in the enemy spawn, players should try to take routes with cover by weaving through buildings or taking the woodland on either side. Players may choose to forsake their cover from above by instead travelling along the treetops; this gives players cover from other players down below instead.
Players should keep an eye on the dense woodland for any players trying to pass through, while also weaving in between buildings to clean out others. Snipers who feel threatened along the walls can drop down to the rooftops of buildings directly below as an alternative. There are no specific strategies or chokepoints to hold on the map, making Siege a very versatile map for options.
Trivia[]
- The map started from numerous suggestions for a forest map. It was originally going to be one of five maps for Comp Mode, planned to release after Quarry. It did not have a solid enough concept to be made into a smaller map, leading to it being transitioned into the castle town/village setting seen now.
- There are a few training dummies are targets that could be used for target practice
- You can stand on the rope with banners on it
