Resort is a small unreleased map currently believed to be coming for Classic. Unlike other unreleased maps in the game's history, Resort was available for public testing during an early phase of development. It is content that players have accessed but has yet to release.
Public testing was made available on November 2, 2024. There were some initial issues due to a desync between the client and server builds of the game. The public test client was receiving an old build of the map, while the server had an updated version with much more detail. This created many invisible walls that players could do go through or shoot through, and provided obstacles that were no longer meant to be in the map that could be shot through.
An update was pushed to the public testing client on November 4, 2024. This change introduced an entire new third floor and extra rooms that previously had been invisible to players.
Layout[]
Two main buildings of a facility take up the majority of the map space. A skyway connects the two buildings, with a small courtyard filled with various bits of debris and shipping containers. Each building has rooms with various bits of debris and broken furniture filling them. The Southern building is much larger and has an interior design that is easy to be lost in. The mid-point of the map is situated in this building and most fighting can be expected to take place within its walls. This unfortunately places a lot of pressure on that South spawn by blocking them into the building as the players try to weasel their way through the rooms out one of the limited entrances that the North spawn has very easy and immediate access to. The North spawn has quick access to all floors of the building, allowing them to infiltrate and lock the South spawn with relative ease.
It is hoped that this will be changed before a release. Suggestions call for various different ways of making the map more symmetrical to create a mirrored spawn situation with the pressure being equal between the spawns instead of focused on the South spawn.
The small courtyard in the middle is walled off with tall concrete slabs and topped with barbed wire. The general chaotic layout of the map creates an atmosphere of disarray and ruin. The overall theme is very apocalyptic and has implications of being tied to a zombie outbreak.
