Redeem Codes

War Brokers has a section in the shop where players may redeem codes that they have found in return for cosmetics.

The number of codes in the game are very limited. The feature is mostly used for debug/facilitative purposes. In the past it has been used for giveaways by hiding single-use codes for players to find (such as the one hidden on the stats site for a free Carbon Fiber outfit). Some codes require a player to have an account with moderator perms in order for them to work. If a regular player were to attempt running one of these codes, they would use up the code for their account (so it can never be used on their account ever again) and receive nothing. Players should only ever use codes if shared through official means with clear communication that it is safe to do so if they wish to avoid account restrictions or missing out on potential future rewards.

In early versions of the game, players who bought Steam and had a dedicated unique nick would need to pay to change their name to something new. A code existed to allow Steam players to redeem a free name change; however as the feature to change name was updated to be free for all users, the code was deprecated as it had no further use.

The availability of a code is described as one of the following:

Public — everyone has access to the code
Private — everyone has access but it is not allowed to be shared; players may be muted and/or banned for improper handling of these codes
Steam — only Steam players can use the code; if browser players try to use it nothing will happen
Closed — only a specific list of players can use the code; repeatable, but other players will receive nothing if they attempt to use the code
Staff Only — only moderator accounts can use the code; single-use and will give nothing to regular players, so using it when not a moderator will waste the code forever

Some codes simply will not work if restricted to certain accounts. Some will be used but not give anything. This creates a danger if people try to guess codes or if they are told one of the staff codes, because they will waste the code. As an example, if they found the code for Green Glowing Eyes then they would use the code and not receive the item. If they became a moderator later, trying to use the code again would not work: the player would receive the message "Error! Code already used!" on their screen. Players should be very careful what codes they use to avoid missing out on cosmetics.

The status of a code is described as one of the following:

Active —the code currently works
Broken — the code currently works but does not give players anything; it is meant to
Expired — the code is old and no longer works
Restricted — the code only works for very specific accounts and gives nothing to all other players

Codes will be dark grey if they do not work for the typical user (broken, expired, or restricted).
