The Mutant is a powerful automatic rifle that is very similar to the assault rifle family, especially to the AR Rifle and AK Rifle. Some players may compare it readily to that family due to the severe similarities. The Mutant is almost identical to the assault rifles other than its lack of select-fire, only providing a fully automatic option: a key part of assault rifles. It was modeled and tuned by developer ZaBaboon before its release in v511 (Dec 19, 2024).
As it was modeled by a developer, it does not use an existing model provided by Synty. The model takes inspiration from the real CMMG Mk47 Mutant. The entire weapon is black.
In Standard modes the Mutant has a 1.2x magnification holographic sight. In Survival modes the Mutant uses Rifle Ammo . Each Mutant comes with 28 rounds loaded.
Performance[]
The Mutant is directly comparable to the AK Rifle and AR Rifle. While it is not a member of the assault rifle family, it should be considered a rival to those weapons. When selecting a weapon for a map, the Mutant is especially competitive with the AK Rifle balance-wise.
Against the AK Rifle, the Mutant has fire rate of 8.25 RPS compared to the AK Rifle's 8.0 RPS. An extra 2 damage also sets the Mutant up to kill in three head shots while ever so slightly boosting its range and allowing slightly more time to finish off a player that may have started to regenerate their HP. The damage drop is also very similar, with minimum range for damage drop being the exact same at 100m; however the Mutant won't finish dropping until 167.5m out—a whole 17.5m extra to delay the drop in damage. While this functionally provides minimal difference in where the two weapons are used, this does help extend the range the Mutant has over the AK Rifle and helps bridge the small gap from the AK Rifle to the AR Rifle.
On paper, the Mutant appear to sit just above the AK Rifle with the only drawback being a magazine capacity of 28 rounds instead of 30 (which isn't hard to ignore). While it is true that the Mutant can kill faster than the AK Rifle and has slightly more effective range, the Mutant is held back by two important factors: sway/kick and the equipped scope. The equipped scope on the two weapons are especially important in the decision players will need to make when choosing their loadout for a given map. The Mutant comes with a 1.2x scope, the same magnification as using a weapon with iron sights in War Brokers. Tie this in with four times the sway/kick of the AK Rifle and the Mutant suddenly becomes unpractical to use at range.
The practical use of the Mutant is a bridge between the SMG and the assault rifle families of weapons. In CQC the SMG family will outclass the Mutant and at medium ranges the AK Rifle into the AR Rifle will be much easier to control for the same desired level of performance. Players will find the Mutant helps most where medium ranges are available but not expansive. A rough range of 50m to 80m would be an ideal range for the Mutant to be considered within. This would include combat ranges regularly found across Zen Garden, The Somme, and Heist.

Trivia[]
- When equipped, the POV of the weapon will use its own arms instead of arms that match the player's equipped uniform. The arms do not match with any existing uniform.
- This is shared with the G3A3 and Marksman's Rifle
- Equipping a 50 Mag or 100 Mag will display the physical drum in place of the Mutant's default magazine on the model
- This behavior is only shared with the Marksman's Rifle
- During testing the Mutant had its default 1.2x scope in Battle Royale for the first day
- The POV of the Mutant will lose the stock (back portion) of the gun in survival modes
