The implosion grenade is a weapon in the grenade slot (slot 5). It does very minimal damage to players, similar to the Concussion Grenade. Likened by the developer Joja15 to the Concussion Grenade, his explanation for the Implosion Grenade was that it would have an inverse knockback; instead of knocking players away, it would suck them toward it. The implosion grenade had two uses in mind: to draw enemies out of hiding and, predominantly, as a movement item.
Usage[]
Implosion Grenades are deployed with one click, and then detonated at any time with a second click. If a player switches to a different weapon, the Implosion Grenade will despawn; it will not be subtracted from the player's grenade count. The grenade count will only decrease upon an Implosion Grenade's implosion.
Players can use the Implosion Grenade to draw themselves up and toward locations to increase their vertical velocity or cover gaps they couldn't otherwise cover on their own. This could help a player's parkour when scaling rooftops, or to jump across the barbed wires strewn across the middle of the Somme. An especially noted trivial use is to glide in Moonbase—the low gravity means that players can create a path of flight that greatly extends their airtime.
Against enemy players, they are useful for pulling people out of cover and into the line of fire. This can be done in corners, doorways, or positions players take for cover. A notable case may be the walls of Siege where players may crouch behind cover when low on health.
They may also be used to blow up Laser Trip Mines.
Trivia[]
- They were originally intended to do no damage
- If imploded on the ground at a player's feet, their velocity will result in them bouncing off the ground resulting in regular knockback
