Overview

Frontier is a map that was released during the Frontier Event on September 9th, 2020. It is based on the American Frontier/Wild West Era. It is set in a town out in the desert, where Cowboys, Frontiersmen, and Indians roam.

Layout[]

Each of the team spawns are in Forts diagonally across from each other. In front of each fort is a train station that has tracks running through the map, connecting the two stations. In the middle is the main part of the map, the town. The town is packed with houses and shops including a Saloon, Bank, Hotel, Undertaker, and many more. On one side of the town is a train tunnel running through the mountains. On the other is a mine deep into the mountain that leads up to a plateau where an Indian camp of Teepees resides. A river in a canyon runs down the side of the town, and bridges lead across it. One bridge leads to a small farm growing wheat and hay.

Gameplay[]

A lot of the action gravitates to the town. Teams rush into it to duke it out and try to push each other backwards. Snipers find window spots to pick people off, cqc people parkour around buildings. The many ways to flank are also used by some, although not much action takes place there.

Strategies[]

The map’s close quarters town, mine, and forts provide for excellent close quarters combat opportunities as well as parkour on the flattened roof tops. The many towers and windows give snipers spots to hunker down and shoot out of into the town and forts. The map has no vehicles, but all other styles of combat have a place on it. The urban environment of the town allows for intense CQB to take place and opportunities for flankers to slip behind enemy lines unnoticed. Meanwhile, the wide and open main road allows for old western showdowns at high noon. The river is a good way to sneak past the action and emerge alongside the spawn points, but its location inside a canyon means that enemies will probably occupy the high ground if you are discovered. Heading into the mine on one side of the map allows for players to traverse area undetected. Snipers have an opportunity to shine if they can occupy the cliffs above the underground tunnels.

As a team gets pushed towards their fort in the North, the cornfield and train station becomes a vital staging area for raids inside of the spawn point, and firefights on either side of the river and the collapsed bridge break out. On the other hand, if a team is pushed towards their base in the South, they will be forced to contend with enemies emerging from the dense array of buildings on the outskirt of the town. The tunnels will also be problematic for players defending in the south due to the proximity of the tunnel opening to the spawn point.

Easter Eggs[]

-On the Undertaker’s Shop, there is a billboard with the faces of the 2 Map Creators, JoJa15 and Lupus, on it, saying “Wanted Dead or Alive”.

-On the top of the mountainous plateau is an out of reach church that looms over the map.

-Inside the tunnels there is a barrel of Toxic Waste and the body of the skin of xpldnbrrl, a recently retired wiki admin and popular figure in the War Brokers community. The skull of his skin reads "Thank You", as a final message from the developers to brrl.

-Touching the Windmill on the map leads to instant death

-There is a tomahawk in the Indian camp.
