The flashlight was a feature accidentally leaked on June 15, 2022. The admin developer accidentally ran a command that applied the effect to the entire server he was in rather than just to himself. Players with him at the time got to experience early testing of the flashlight. Maps would be dark, players would be slowed, and the only reliable way of seeing players was through your flashlight or via the glare of other players' flashlights.
It was officially released later in its incorporation into the Halloween 2022 event's ZDC.
