Desert is a sidearm that can be equipped to weapon slot 3. It was released in the v483 update (December 21, 2022).
Design[]
The Desert is based on the Desert Eagle (colloquially known as the Deagle). It has metal plating along its main body with a black grip. The model in the menu shows a light metal plating, while the model when held is a dark grey that matches the color of the existing Pistol and Auto Pistol.
Performance[]
As a sidearm, the Desert breaks a lot of rules set by all previous sidearms. It has more power than the Pistol—boasting a base damage of 90 versus the Pistol's 65—but has a high recoil to compensate. Despite the shared recoil with Revolver, this fire rate of 6 RPS allows it to stand up against the Revolver with its base damage of 125 at 1.5 RPS.
The Desert has the highest DPS out of all sidearms from roughly 30m - 35m onwards. Its main drawback is its very high recoil alongside its lack of scope. While the Desert may maintain the longest ranges due to less extreme damage drop by range, being required to aim with the iron sights is a big drawback when accounting for the high recoil between each shot a player will be faced with. This leaves Desert in an awkward position where it will perform better than the Pistol and Auto Pistol in close-medium ranges, but quickly falls behind the reliability of the Revolver from medium ranges onward.
Trivia[]
- Desert is the only sidearm to not have its damage drop off linearly from 6m, instead dropping linearly from 30m
- Desert has the highest damage percentage drop of all sidearms, dropping to 10% damage instead of the 20% shared by Pistol and Auto Pistol, and 40% damage on the Revolver
- On release, players attributed the Desert to an airsoft gun rather than the powerful and loud pistol a Deagle typically is
- The model in the menu and held by players in the leaderboard shows an iron color casing, while the model in the overworld is a solid dark grey body
