Death Match Royale is a game mode in War Brokers that mixes elements of Battle Royale with Death Match. It was introduced with v390 (23 October, 2020). It acts as a free-for-all mode with the ability to respawn as opposed to a permanent death. This made it unique to Battle Royale and at the time Competitive Mode, both of which incorporated looting aspects but had perma-death. The experience is akin to the original tests for Battle Royale on Pacific.

The mode is exclusive to the map Dead End City. Since Halloween 2021, there has been the addition of a "Zombie Dead City" mode during event periods.

Servers fit up to 30 players—half that of Battle Royale's 60 players.

Gameplay[]

All players spawn at random points in the map. Players are tasked with collecting things off the ground and searching the contents of various containers; crates, chests, lockers, even cardboard boxes. Weapons, ammunition, attachments, healing items, and armor are all spread around for players to take advantage of. Players may also take to the streets with one of four cars spread throughout the city.

Rounds last for 15 minutes. Players must loot and kill to survive the onslaught of enemy players. Upon death a player will drop everything equipped and in their backpack. When respawning, players will start in a new randomly selected position in the map with a Pistol and a box of Light Ammo (30 rounds) to help start them off. This small boost is also present for players who join a match midway, but with two boxes (60 rounds). At the end of the round, the top players sorted by kills will be showcased. While teaming is unpreventable, it is not only highly frowned upon by the community, but is also strictly against the rules as is in any game mode.

Loot[]

Items are found spread across the ground, on rooftops, and even sometimes on top of large statues. Some of these are fixed spawns for the "heavy tier" of items which include Large Healths, Heavy Armor, and Heavy Ammo. While players will take from these ground sources, most of the player's arsenal is locked behind various container types—totaling 21 types of container.

Container loot pools can be thought of from a flag system, where a category type is marked as true or false for if it will appear in the container. Some categories have sub-categories that are sorted by (so if the parent category is not active, one or more of the specific child categories may be flagged). These are:

  • Weapon — All main weapons for primary and secondary slots
  • Subweapon — All sub weapons that make up weapon slots 3 - 5
  • Attachment — All attachments for various weapons
    • Scope — 2x Scope, 4x Scope, 6x Scope, and Sniper Scope
    • Muzzle — Compensator, Flash Reducer, Laser, and Silencer
    • Grip — Grip and Stock
    • Mag — Fast Load Mag, 40 Mag, 50 Mag, and 100 Mag
  • Health — All healing items
  • Misc — Duct Tape and Binoculars
  • Ammo — The four ammunition box types
  • Gear — All armor and backpacks

Separate to each parent and child category, items may be flagged separately. This is sometimes seen with weapons like the Rubber Chicken being the only weapon of any kind in a given container. Additionally, each item has a tier of rarity which is reflected in some containers to discount high tier loot, or to exclusively contain high tier loot. One case of this may be gear, where loot tiers in a container may only allow for light and medium gear, or may exclusively contain heavy gear. While a container may be flagged with the health category, the tier of loot it has access to may lead to every item except Large Health from being found within.

Container Loot Pools[]

Arduous testing shows the rough frequency of finding specific loot in any given container, however are not the raw odds. These numbers should be taken with a grain of salt. They do not reflect the true weightings/chances of finding any given item. These frequencies as tested for are as follows:
