The Concussion Grenade is a weapon that was released on April 29, 2022. It was the second release of three weapons announced by Joja15 for the Grenade slot on February 11, 2022.
Overview[]
The Concussion Grenade, sometimes referred to as the flashbang or stun grenade, is one of five weapons selectable for the grenade category. Players hold five grenades at once, only refreshing stock upon respawning.
Concussion Grenades can be thrown farther and faster than the regular frag grenade and explode on impact. The explosion provides a knockback similar to the regular grenade but deals minimal damage (roughly 40 HP scaling down based on distance to concussion grenade). On impact, the Concussion Grenade will cause a brief flash and cause the screen of anyone in the blast radius to shake for 1 second. Players caught in the blast radius additionally lose 80% volume scaled down to 0%—proportional to the blast radius—for 5 seconds.
Concussion Grenades were additionally planned to slightly blur the screen for 5 seconds, with the time scaled based on distance from the blast similar to the sound loss.
Design[]
The grenade is a dark grey cylinder with a yellow strip warping around the center, while the lever and safety pin are a lighter grey.
Uses[]
Concussion Grenades can be used to quickly distract enemies. The distraction may give a temporary advantage to attacking or buy time to retreat to a safer spot. Concussion Grenades are also good at taking out enemy Laser Trip Mines that are in positions that are difficult to shoot—its long throwing range allows players to stand at a safe distance and angle. The lack of a fuse also allows players to dispose of enemy mines faster than they would while waiting for a regular frag grenade to cook or for a smoke grenade to trip the Laser Trip Mines. Therefore, this reduces the time a player will spend waiting before they can get back on the move. Because of how far they can be thrown, as well as its relatively large blast radius, they may be utilized in CQC situations, such as a player identifying if there are any hiding opponents. If they throw a Concussion Grenade around a corner and get a registered target hit, then the player will know there are enemies nearby.
This weapon can also be used to blow yourself up vertically to give yourself a height boost to reach an elevated area.
