I feel like aksmg's recoil was stronger than the AK and it was difficult to aim at long distances. Also, it was an iron sight, so it might be for close range.

All weapons of the SMG family are meant for closer ranges, so yes you are right. The recoil, at least at the much faster fire rate, is definitely more extreme than the AK. It's quite powerful, with recoil being a big factor in balancing it.

I dunno why the devs released the AK SMG when we already have the VEK and SMG. I feel those two are better than the AK SMG.

But there's romance

The AK SMG has the highest DPS of all three. It also has great damage for vehicles while still allowing the player the option of a SMG. It's good, but balanced by that high recoil.

It also has a bit better range. In short, it is a really good choice to take from close range up until the point a regular AK may be desired.
